Overall criticism of anti-inflation aid

The coalition parties 'For the People', 'We Are Family' and 'Freedom and Solidarity' will not change their positions on the anti-inflation aid sponsored by Finance Minister Igor Matovic even if President Zuzana Caputova vetoes it. Freedom and Solidarity will continue to be against, the MPs of other parties will support it, according to their statements for the TASR press agency.

The head of state has 15 days from receiving the law to sign or veto the piece of legislation. The President did not say whether she would use the whole period, it depends on her current programme.
When assessing the anti-inflation package, she will communicate with experts on the subject and will also address the quality of the legislative process. As Caputova emphasized, she wants to make a good decision.

The Slovak Towns and Villages Association and the Slovak Towns Union have requested a meeting with the president in connection with the anti-inflation package, Caputova stated that she will be pleased to meet representatives of local governments. The City of Bratislava has asked Caputova not to sign the package, while calling on the Government to consult the proposal with local governments before re-debating it.
