There is no reason to panic regarding the emergence of monkeypox in Europe, Slovakia's Chief Hygienist Jan Mikas stated on Thursday. He was speaking at the 13th Slovak congress of vaccinology currently taking place in Tatranska Lomnica in the High Tatras, north-eastern Slovakia. "This disease hasn't yet been reported in Slovakia in connection with the mini-epidemic in England. Of course, we can't rule out imported cases and we can expect such a case to occur in our country in the near future," said Mikas.
According to him, there is no need to take any measures for the time being, such as the suspension of flights from Africa or other country-wide measures.
