Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday. "I took full advantage of my participation and highlighted the value of Slovakia in the digital economy. We don't offer the world only opportunities in industrial investments. We have a number of talents and start-ups that are worth investing in," stated the Slovak premier, adding that he spoke directly to technology giants such as Google, Microsoft and YouTube about these topics. However, he also pointed out that Slovakia is lagging behind in terms of digital literacy among the public. The country therefore needs to strengthen its cyber-security skills and find the right balance between openness and the protection of important data. Technology giants can help a lot with this, he thinks. Furthermore, according to Heger, Slovakia's participation in the World Economic Forum is proof that it belongs to the developed and democratic world, but it is also a commitment for Slovakia to help those who are trying to become part of it.
In Davos, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger warned in an interview for British news channel Sky News that if Russia wins the war in Ukraine, it will continue with its invasion efforts and potentially also threaten Slovakia. "It's important that [the Ukrainians] are our neighbours and we're fully with them ... so that they will win and keep their democracy and sovereignty," said Heger. According to the prime minister, Slovakia cares very much about Ukraine being a stable and prosperous country. If Russia were to win in Ukraine, Slovakia would also be at risk, Heger opined.
