The construction of an extension to the tramline in the Bratislava borough of Petrzalka is being complicated by disagreements within the consortium that is carrying out the work. The capital has noted this in a document that was discussed by city councillors on Thursday. The city parliament also reports that Bratislava has already applied for a contractual penalty to be imposed for the failure to reach the first milestone in the construction work. According to the municipality, the project is also being affected by the availability and rising prices of building materials. One of the largest transport projects in the field of public passenger transport in the capital is being implemented at a cost of €74.58 million excluding VAT by a group of suppliers. The contractor has promised the municipality that the upcoming second milestone in November 2022 will be reached according to the schedule. The construction work is to be paid for mainly from EU funds. The project is under increased supervision by the European Commission.
