Slovakia in play-offs at World Ice Hockey Championships

The Slovak ice hockey team has advanced to the quarterfinals at the Ice Hockey World championship in Finland, after beating Denmark 7:1. Captain Tomáš Tatar scored two first-period goals to spark Slovakia on to an important victory. According to the IIHF website, this match was also another great game for Slovakia's youth movement. Defenceman Šimon Nemec shone with a goal and three assists. Juraj Slafkovský added a goal and an assist. The towering 18-year-old NHL prospect, who was named the Olympic MVP with seven goals, now leads all Slovaks with nine points. Slovakia will meet Finland for their quarterfinal play-off game on Thursday evening.
