U.S. Steel Kosice on Tuesday confirmed its plan to modernise and decarbonise its production, a move that will require an investment exceeding €1 billion. The firm signed a memorandum of understanding and support with the City of Kosice for its planned decarbonisation projects. "The final decision has not yet been made – either by the Slovak Government or U.S. Steel Corporation – as to whether this investment plan will in fact be implemented," stated Miroslav Kiraľvarga, vice-president of the Kosice steel mill.
