The Slovak Towns and Villages Association has gone on strike alert as of Thursday, calling on its members to suspend communications with central state administration bodies and implement their delegated powers only in the period covered by subsidies from the state. The reason behind the move is recent Finance Ministry-sponsored bills as well as the state's long-term approach towards municipalities. The association wants its members to suspend or limit their communications with central government bodies for the "necessary" period.
