SaS party presents counter-proposal to deal with inflation

At its regular session on Wednesday, the Government is set to deal with a Labour Ministry proposal involving a one-off increase in child allowances for May to €100. The aim is to help families with dependent children to deal with extreme price growth. Within the governing coalition there is agreement on this proposal. On a second proposal, however, involving other measures aimed at supporting families with children, there is disagreement, with the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party claiming that the measures will be expensive and will be financed from tax increases and local-government budgets. Party leader Richard Sulik reiterated that higher taxes are a "red line" for SaS and that's why the party made use of its veto in this case. Sulik stressed that although the party is "unambiguously in favour of the state helping very quickly those who really need it," he does not believe the measures will help those who are socially dependent, but instead will take from the poor and give to the rich.
