Local and regional elections in Slovakia, which are both to take place on the same day, will be held on October 29, said Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) on Tuesday. Kollar is expected to officially announce the election date in the upcoming days. An earlier election date had originally been mentioned, so that people wouldn't have to deal with elections in the period involving All Saints Day. According to Kollar, however, since many people must travel far to the place of their permanent residence in order to vote, it’s preferable to schedule the election closer to the holiday, when people anyway would be likely to travel there, and might not want to travel two weekends in a row.
