Financier Martin Kvietik remains in custody

Financier Martin Kvietik remains in custody, after the Specialised Criminal Court rejected his request for release. The decision is not final, and the defence has filed a complaint. The matter will now be dealt with by the Supreme Court. Kvietik is being prosecuted in custody on charges concerning corruption in connection with the Slovak Land Fund. The alleged bribes in the case exceeded 10 million euros. The National Crime Agency detained on May 19 last year eight people during crackdown operations. Seven of them were charged with setting up, orchestrating and supporting a criminal group, bribery, and misuse of a public official's powers. The hearing in this case continues on Tuesday at the Specialised Criminal Court.
