Slovakia and Poland support Ukraine as a candidate country of the European Union. Presidents Zuzana Caputova and Andrzej Duda agreed on this at their meeting in Bratislava on Wednesday. Both presidents are also in favour of the European Union being united in the event of anti-Russian sanctions. Polish President Duda also met with Slovak House Chair Boris Kollar to discuss the war in Ukraine and the effort to end energy dependency on Russia. Both officials concurred that the Russian Federation is engaging in imperialist policies and condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Also discussed was the plan to end energy dependency on Russia. "Slovakia is almost completely dependent on gas and oil supplies from Russia. However, we're seeking ways to change this," said Kollar. President Duda pointed out that Poland is building a pipeline to Norway and also sits in talks with Saudi Arabia on oil procurements. He offered aid to Bratislava with gas and oil supplies.
