Wednesday 11 May marked exactly 20 years since the historic World Championship final in Goteborg, Sweden, in which Slovak hockey players beat the Russians to win their first and so far sole gold medal. The majority of the then squad met in Bratislava at the anniversary event and together they recalled the event, which will forever be etched in the history of Slovak hockey. Žigmund Pálffy, Ľubomír Višňovský, Ján Lašák, Richard Lintner and coach Ján Filc were also present.
