Parliament approves police restructuring bill

The Police Corps is to be restructured, with name tags on police uniforms to be removed and police officers invested with expanded powers, according to a bill sponsored by the Interior Ministry and approved by Parliament on Tuesday. The officers will no longer be required to wear name tags on their uniforms. "In many cases, police members on duty face slandering and intimidation against themselves and their family relatives, and notes are taken of their personal data," explained the bill.
