Monday's final report of the Conference on the Future of Europe shows that citizens want the European Union to become fairer, show more solidarity, fight climate change and take more prompt decisions, even if that means breaking the principle of unity on some issues. However, according to Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, there must also be a will on the part of member states to do so. Michal Šimečka, Vice-President of the European Parliament, pointed out that citizens of the European Union, including Slovaks, are calling for more flexible solutions to issues at the Union level.
