Analysis: Number of companies declared bankrupt up year-on-year in April

A total of 24 companies were declared bankrupt in Slovakia in April 2022, which is an increase of more than a quarter from March and of 13 compared to the previous April, according to data published by analytics company CRIF-Slovak Credit Bureau this week.
Meanwhile, restructuring was permitted for five companies in April 2022, an increase of 150 percent from March and of two year-on-year (y-o-y). CRIF SK chief analyst Jana Markova stated that three companies engaged in alternative energy sources that all have Bioplyn in their names and are based at the same address in Horovce, western Slovakia, are worthy of note. The highest number of companies declared bankrupt in April were engaged in industry and in construction (four each). Courts declared five companies bankrupt each in the Kosice region, the Trencin region and the Trnava region.
