Folklore Festival Východná is the oldest and largest nationwide festival in Slovakia. The jubilee 60th edition of the Východná Folk Festival took place from 3rd to 6th of July, in the village of Východná located under both the High and Low Tatra mountains.
The festival peaked on Sunday with a gala programme made up of songs and dances performed by several folk groups at the local open-air amphitheatre to an audience that included also the Slovak president Andrej Kiska.
"It's greatly pleasing that our beautiful folklore survives fully among young people and is becoming more and more popular, which has been shown by the huge audience made up of lovers of folk traditions from across the whole of Slovakia, gathered here at this legendary and literally nation-wide celebration," said Kiska.
