Slovakia contributed €540,000 to Ukraine at the donor conference jointly organised by Poland and Sweden, taking place in Warsaw on Thursday. Financial assistance from Slovakia will be used for humanitarian purposes in Ukraine by selected UN agencies.
"This conference is not just about money, it is first and foremost an effort to save as many human lives as possible and to alleviate the suffering of men, women and children. And it is a task for us, other countries, to do everything we can to ensure that Ukraine not only wins the war, but that it is able to get back on its feet as soon as possible," said Slovak PM Eduard Heger about Slovakia's contribution. He also pledged that Slovakia would continue its support and assistance to its eastern neighbour because "Ukraine must remain a free and democratic country with internationally respected territorial integrity".
