The post-pandemic recovery of the retail sector continued in March, said UniCredit Bank analyst Lubomir Korsnak in his commentary on retail-revenue figures for March released by the Statistics Office earlier on Wednesday. The Statistics Office reported that retail sales in Slovakia maintained a high growth rate in March 2022, going up by 14.5 percent year-on-year. The monthly growth in retail sales amounted to 3.8 percent in March. Lubomir Korsnak expects consumption gradually to start hitting its limits in the next few months owing to worsening consumer sentiment due to the war in Ukraine, but mainly to record inflation. This might gradually postpone deferred consumption from the pandemic period, which probably helped to boost March revenues as well.
