Commemorating the 103rd anniversary of Milan Rastislav Stefanik's tragic death in Ivanka pri Dunaji on Wednesday, President Zuzana Caputova pointed to his words about freedom. Namely that anyone who thinks that others will win freedom for them is not worthy of it, adding that to remember this is more important today than ever before. The head of state noted that the co-founder of democratic Czechoslovakia, with his extraordinary talent, pulled himself up from modest circumstances into a respected personality at home and on the international scene. Milan Rastislav Stefanik, Czechoslovakia's first and last minister of war, was killed with his entire crew when his Caproni Ca.33 biplane crashed near Ivanka pri Dunaji on May 4, 1919.
