EC Receives Slovakia's Payment Request under Recovery and Resilience Facility

The European Commission has confirmed that it received a payment request from Slovakia for almost €400 million under the Recovery and Resilience Facility. Slovakia's recovery and resilience plan is set to be financed by grants amounting to €6.3 billion. The disbursement of such funds depends on the country's implementation of the investments and reforms outlined in its National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The first payment request covered 14 milestones related to reforms in the areas of justice, higher education, research and development, fiscal framework, energy, sustainable mobility, the fight against corruption, digitisation of the public sector and the audit system. The Commission announced that it has two months to assess the request. It will first send the Economic and Financial Committee a preliminary assessment of Slovakia's compliance with the milestones and targets for the requested payment.
