Environment Minister Ján Budaj hopes that it will be possible to limit car traffic around the high mountain trails. He hopes that within two years at the latest, there will be no vehicles on the frequented high-mountain trails, or that they will be there only at certain hours and will be emission-free, he stated on a social network. The change in rules on high mountain routes will be accompanied by other changes in passenger and public transport, he said. In the coming months, the environment ministry will discuss them with experts, municipalities, tourist organisations and owners of tourist facilities.
"We will prepare the change carefully, and I am already sure that the slanderers will eventually shut up in this case as well. Improvement of static and dynamic traffic conditions in protected mountain areas is long overdue," Budaj noted.
