On Sunday, approximately 2,500 people from all over Slovakia gathered in Nitra during a Labour Day celebration organised by the opposition Smer-SD party. The aim of the event was to protest against the government, the president and consent with the request by the prosecutor's office to allow the prosecution of the party’s head and former PM Robert Fico in custody. Fico is currently charged of plotting a criminal group and misusing his powers. Former Interior Minister and party’s deputy head Robert Kaliňák, facing same charges, is already in custody.
