A total of 4,048 Ukrainians crossed the Slovak-Ukrainian border into Slovakia on Thursday (April 28), of which 2,342 were women, 837 children and 869 men. The Interior Ministry's press department head Sona Valasikova told TASR on Friday, adding that 3,089 Ukrainians crossed the border in the opposite direction. On Wednesday, 306 Ukrainians applied for temporary refuge in Slovakia. The total number of people awarded temporary refugee status as of March 1 now stands at 72,177. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Slovakia has registered 373,125 people fleeing the conflict via this particular border. Meanwhile, the total number of people who have crossed the border into Ukraine has reached 118,343.
