President Zuzana Caputova called on Russian soldiers and commanders to stop the war in Ukraine, adding that they are violating the rules of war and discipline and losing their honour with each wasted civilian life.
"To Russian soldiers and their commanders, to all concerned. If you are still capable of feeling any vestige of humanity in yourself, bring it back to life and end this terrible war. Because with each passing day, you're only increasing the army of wounded souls, the bodies of women, children and innocent people. To hurt the defenceless is to manifest the greatest weakness," Caputova stated in a video in Russian on Twitter.
The Slovak head of state condemned the military aggression. "All I can see are the faces of dozens of women and children, civilians, contorted by horrendous pain. I see their souls forever scarred by suffering," she added.
