Food producers are asking the government for extraordinary support to mitigate the rise in food prices. This was stated on Tuesday at a joint press conference by representatives of the Slovak Chamber of Agriculture and Food (SPPK) and the Slovak Chamber of Food (PKS). According to them, only the Slovak government's help will mitigate food price increases.
"Another (third) wave of price rises awaits us. Even the prices of commodities from the new harvest are under enormous price pressure, especially global developments. Price rises and high food prices are a trend that Slovaks will face at least for the next year. Therefore, it is our duty to warn the government to start doing something about this (trend)," said SPPK chairman Emil Macho. According to him, the current crisis reveals the low competitiveness of the Slovak food industry.
