New Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis will make foreign investments his top priorities. “I want to focus on foreign investments as my top priority, and to actively get involved in the process of searching for and attracting new investors,” Pavlis said after his appointment to the post in the Presidential Palace on Thursday.
“From my point of view, I'm facing difficult times ahead in terms of the effort to reduce the administrative burden for entrepreneurs. I have to focus also on the energy security of Slovakia and a number of other activities,” Pavlis claimed. He added that he’s ready to embrace new responsibilities, as he has served at the ministry in the role of state secretary for the past two years. During his tenure, Pavlis intends to return dignity and importance to the Economy Ministry. “I, for one, believe that the ministry has lost a degree of its action potential over the last four years.” The ministry is scheduled also to see personnel changes to state secretaries. “I will be changing both state secretaries for sure. One is already selected, as was announced previously: it’ll be Rastislav Chovanec. The other one who'll deal with the energy sector remains still a subject of talks.”
