President Caputova off to Italy to discuss implications of war in Ukraine for Europe

President Zuzana Caputova left on Wednesday morning for a two-day visit to Italy, where she will meet her Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella and head of the Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati. In addition to bilateral relations, the talks will cover the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its implications for Europe, including the need to reduce Europe's energy dependence on Russia and to accelerate the transition to green energy.

For this reason, Caputova's delegation includes representatives of Slovak companies and institutions involved in the green transition and digitisation.

The visit will bring together Slovak and Italian legal experts on combating corruption and money-laundering in regards to the application of sanctions against Russia.

Caputova is set to award the Order of the Double White Cross to former Italian prime minister and head of the European Commission Romano Prodi.
