Possibly a first dispute between the new President Andrej Kiska and the Parliament might be on the horizon. President Andrej Kiska will appoint Jana Baricová to the post of new Constitutional Court judge.
He chose Baricová out of a pool of 6 candidates that the Parliament selected. However, out of the remaining five candidates selected by Parliament, President Kiska did not choose any for the remaining two judges’ positions. Kiska also asked Parliament to elect four more candidates from which he would select two Constitutional Court judges to be appointed. Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška claims President Kiska thus failed to comply with the Constitution.
