If current trends continue, the market prices of electricity and gas for the regulated segment (households) could increase in 2023 by 80-100 per cent from current levels and by more than 40 per cent for heat. This was reported by Radoslav Igaz, Office for Regulation of Network Industries spokesperson on Wednesday. The cheaper electricity effectuated by the Memorandum with the Slovenske Elektrarne power utility might considerably minimise the impacts of market prices on the households in the case of electricity, yet similar options for gas are lacking. Igaz explained that the current extremely inflated and highly unstable energy prices on the market are the result of several unprecedented geopolitical factors such as the concerns over gas supplies from Russia to the EU and the influence of Russian military aggression against Ukraine on the global economy.
