In Slovakia, fears of the economic consequences of the war, especially rising prices and the economic crisis, are growing slightly. This stems from the survey How are you, Slovakia? carried out by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The survey also showed that only 27.5 per cent of all respondents would be willing to fight for Slovakia in the event of war. 37.1 per cent of respondents answered negatively and 35.4 per cent chose the answer "don't know". Men (33.5 percent) were slightly more likely to be willing to fight than women (21.7 percent), but men were also more likely than women to answer this question in the negative. Men over 60 are more willing to fight for Slovakia than men under 40. "The very low willingness to fight for Slovakia may be related not only to low trust in some institutions and the state but also to a certain geopolitical ambivalence. History is also an important context - in Slovakia, we do not have a tradition of heroising our armed forces and, unlike other states or nations, we have not fought any major successful armed conflicts or uprisings in the past," commented sociologist Robert Klobucký from the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
