Interior Ministry to replace two Russian-made helicopters

The Government on Tuesday approved a motion proposing the immediate replacement of the Interior Ministry's two Russian-made Mi-171 helicopters. The expected costs reach €25 million. The Interior Ministry pointed to the war in Ukraine and the emerging threat that maintenance of the helicopters could be suspended. This would render the machines incapable of carrying out tasks related to state security.

Minister Roman Mikulec claimed that the ministry had already been planning to launch a public tender, but the war in Ukraine has complicated the situation. He added that the risk of not being able to use the helicopters is growing with each passing day. Mikulec intends to reach out to all relevant manufacturers on the market with the offer.
