President Zuzana Caputova thinks considerations of sending Mig-29 jet fighters to Ukraine are normal and right, but underlined that Slovakia's airspace must be secured first and Ukraine must show interest in the Migs as well, TASR learnt on Tuesday.
"First, the same demand as with the S-300 system must be met and that is ensuring the security of our airspace, particularly in communication with our allies. In that case I think that it's normal and right to start entertaining such type of aid as far as the MiGs are concerned, if the Ukrainian side are interested in them," said the President.The current trend of getting rid of old military equipment and hardware and having it replaced with new, Western equipment is the right thing to do, said Caputova. "Furthermore, it's necessary to continuously point to and explain the misleading arguments, hoaxes, open lies and disinformation that say that we're exposing Slovakia to some danger," added Caputova.
