Poll: Opposition would have majority in Parliament

Had a general election taken place on the beginning of April, it would have been won by the extra-parliamentary Voice-SD of ex-premier Peter Pellegrini on 19% of the votes, according to the results of a Focus agency poll. The opposition Smer-SD party would be second (15.1%) ahead of the junior governing Freedom and Solidarity (10.3%), the major governing Ordinary People party (8.1%), junior governing We Are Family party (7.5%), the extra-parliamentary party Progressive Slovakia (7.3%). The last two parties to beat the 5% threshold would be the far-right Republic party (6.9%), and the extra-parliamentary Christian Democrats (6.3%).

The far-right People's Party Our Slovakia would be the first one to miss the house (4.5%) ahead of the ethnic-Hungarian Alliance (4.4%), the former governing Slovak National Party (3.6%), the smallest governing party For the People (2.5%), Good Choice and Moderates (1.9%), the Hungarian Forum (1.6%), and Together (0.7%).

These results would translate into 35 seats in Parliament for Voice-SD, 28 for Smer-SD, 19 for Freedom and Solidarity, 15 for Freedom and Solidarity, 14 for We Are Family, 14 for Progressive Slovakia, 13 for far-right Republic and 12 for Christian Democrats. Opposition parties Voice-SD, Smer-SD and far-right Republic would be able to form government with 76 out of 150 seats.
