In February 2022, Slovakia's industrial output performed slightly worse in yearly terms, dropping by 0.2% y-o-y, the Statistics office has reported. Month-on-month, after seasonal adjustments, industrial production decreased by 1.5%. The performance in February was mainly affected by decline in supplies of electricity, gas, steam and cold air (11.4%) and decline in car production (4.1%). Industry's failure to increase its output when compared to last year was also caused partly by a 22% fall in mining and quarrying and a 2.2% drop in the manufacture of machinery and equipment.
As for the January-February period, industrial output grew by 1.4% year-on-year. This result was chiefly influenced by increased production of rubber and plastic products, which saw growth of 12.4%, and a simultaneous decline in the production of electricity, gas, steam and cold air, which fell by 7.9%.
