Help for people who have taken refuge in Slovakia from the war in Ukraine continues, Labour Minister Milan Krajniak stated at a press conference on Thursday. As he added, over 308 thousand people have come to Slovakia, almost half of them children. The minister noted that over 63 thousand people had requested temporary refuge in Slovakia. Ninety-five unaccompanied children were placed in children and family centres, mostly in Presov, eastern Slovakia. According to the Labour Ministry, the employment of Ukrainian expatriates increased by 78 percent in a week. Most expatriates found jobs as assembly workers in production (28.4 percent), production equipment operators (8.5 percent) and cleaners (8.2 percent). They occupy especially those jobs that have not been filled for a long time due to the low interest of Slovaks, contributing to the development of the Slovak economy.
