Slovak Prime Minister travels to Kyiv with EC President

Prime Minister Eduard Heger is traveling to Kyiv on Thursday (April 7) to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Slovak premier is due to travel on Thursday night along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Last week, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola visited Ukraine, declaring in Kyiv the EU's willingness to rebuild the country after the Russian invasion. The prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia visited Ukraine in March. Heger did not travel to Kyiv with the prime ministers after consulting it with the security forces, which explicitly did not recommend it. He later regretted his decision. According to Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad, Eduard Heger's trip to Kyiv on Thursday is considered to be safer that it would have been earlier, adding that this is the premier's decision and he will not comment on it.
