Retail sales in Slovakia increased by 16.4 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in February 2022, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday, adding that sales have risen constantly for a year. The monthly growth in retail sales amounted to 1.3 percent in February. Retail revenues kept up high y-o-y growth for a second month in as many as eight out of the nine monitored items. Restaurants and pubs did much better in February, increasing their revenues by half. However, they still lacked 20 percent to match the pre-pandemic figures. Accommodation facilities posted radical growth for the second month as well, but this only made up for the huge shortfalls during last year's lockdown.
