Several public buildings dominating the Bratislava skyline were lit in blue on Monday to mark the 73rd anniversary of the founding of NATO and the 18th anniversary of Slovakia's accession to it. "With its NATO membership, Slovakia acquired the best security guarantees possible. That means that 29 other states stand ready to defend us, whenever a need arises. In light of the war in Ukraine, it can be said that reliance on this collective defence has never been more important than today," chief of Slovak diplomacy Ivan Korcok declared on the same day. Lit up in blue were the Bratislava Castle, the Presidential Palace, Slovak Central Bank and UFO tower atop the SNP Bridge.
