Chief hygienist Jan Mikas recommends a continued compliance with increased hygienic standards, as that is a relatively simple way to reduce the risk of not only the spreading of COVID-19 but also other respiratory illnesses. "The cancelling of across-the-board restrictions that guided establishments and mass events means that as of now every single one of us must assume responsibility for the protection of our own health and the health of our loved ones," stated Mikas. In addition to vaccination and wearing respirators, the people should still observe social distancing, said Mikas, who pointed to lingering high figures in the number of new Omicron cases.
