SIEA: €15 million available for producing green hydrogen

The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) has announced a call worth a total of €15 million for the construction of facilities that will produce 'green hydrogen' via electrolysis using renewable energy sources, and will be funded from the Operational Programme Quality of the Environment, TASR learnt on Tuesday.

The call is designed to contribute towards the European Union's aim of climate neutrality by 2050.

"I announced a hydrogen spring because our goal is to support innovative hydrogen solutions. The supported projects will focus on producing hydrogen exclusively using electricity from renewable energy sources. Such hydrogen will be further used in transport and for energy purposes. This is a chance to help significantly, for example, to launch green alternatives to traditional fuels. If the supported projects expand the network of hydrogen filling stations, that will eliminate emissions and improve the atmosphere but also reduce dependence on fossil fuels, including Russian natural gas," said SIEA head Peter Blaskovits.
