The Slovak Armed Forces are deploying the Patriot surface-to-air defence systems along the eastern border. As Slovak Armed Forces spokesperson Štefan Zemanovič pointed out the Patriot system is already protecting the strategic region of central Slovakia. All the batteries to be provided to Slovakia by its allies will be deployed in such a way so as to have their defense radius cover the largest amount of Slovakia's territory. "Together, we will thus bolster the security of our people," said Zemanovič.
Overall, Slovakia will be protected by two German and one Dutch Patriot batteries. According to the Defense Ministry, the PAC3 version of the Patriot system is one of the most sophisticated surface-to-air defence systems available today.
