A company called Embraco Slovakia, headquartered in Spisska Nova Ves, will lay off up to 160 employees due to the war in Ukraine, company director Tomas Kandra announced on Thursday. Embraco Slovakia specialises in the manufacturing of compressors. The company’s director stated that the production on the side of our Ukrainian clients has in essence either stopped or been suspended over the war. As for Russia, our trade ties with this country are either directly or indirectly affected by current and potential future sanctions. There are currently 2,200 employees working at the Spisska Nova Ves facility.
