The fifth annual Rainbow Pride march for human rights of LGBTI community took place on Hviezdoslavovo Square in Bratislava on Saturday with a motto “Come Out with Your Family”. Some thousand people gathered for the march, with private security and police overseeing their safety.
According to organisers, this year of Bratislava Pride was different in that it drew attention also to the issue of family, aside from sexual orientation and gender equality. In this manner, participants reacted to the recent Constitutional amendment that has enshrined the marriage as a union between man and woman and will provide this institute with higher constitutional protection as of September. During the event, organisers presented on a rainbow flag their own legislative counter-proposal that they believe would provide equal protection to all forms of families, regardless of sex, race or sexual orientation.
