By swapping its old cars for electric and hybrid alternatives, the President's Office, whose aim is to become the first carbon neutral institution in Slovakia, has reduced its carbon-dioxide emissions by 48 percent year-on-year, President Zuzana Caputova reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the office's improved energy efficiency has resulted in a 7-percent savings. Among the measures that have been put in place to achieve this result were the installation of a grass carpet on the roof of the Karaconi Palace – a national cultural monument administered by the office – reducing the lighting of the Presidential Palace, and revising energy appliances.
