Small and medium-sized hospitals to withdraw from contracts with state-run health-insurer VsZP

Small and medium-sized hospitals will withdraw from contracts with state-run health-insurer Vseobecna zdravotna poistovna (VsZP), and its policyholders will only be provided with urgent medical care, the Slovak Hospitals Association (ANS) has told TASR, adding they will comment on the contract terms offered to them by private health-insurers on Friday (March 25).

ANS representatives held negotiations with health-insurers on compensation for salary increases and growth in operating costs this year on Monday (March 21).

"While the proposal of health-insurer Union meets at least the basic needs of hospitals, and while both Union and health-insurer Dovera will submit final terms to ANS members by the end of the week, VsZP is offering 80 ANS hospitals terms that in no way cover the salary increases set by law, or the current growth in energy prices and inflation. Therefore, we'll have to withdraw from our contracts with VsZP," said ANS in its statement. VsZP in its statement on Monday said that the negotiations continue.
