At the moment it is possible to exchange Ukrainian hryvnias in Slovakia only at exchange offices, as banks still do not offer this possibility, Slovakia's central bank (NBS) spokesman Peter Majer has told TASR, adding that they are seeking ways to help Ukrainian refugees in this connection.
However, one Slovak bank has already announced that it will exchange hryvnias for euros. Tatra banka spokesperson Simona Miklosovicova announced on Monday that the citizens of Ukraine will be able to exchange hryvnias for euros in Bratislava as of Tuesday (March 22). Later, this exchange point will be completed by others in Humenne (Presov region) and Michalovce (Kosice region). There it will be possible to exchange hryvnias in the immediate vicinity of state hotspots. Ukrainian nationals will be able to exchange hryvnias up to €250 per day. Citizens of Ukraine will have to submit their passports if they want to exchange the money.
