Large-capacity centre for foreigners opens in Nitra

On Monday morning, a large-capacity centre for foreigners fleeing the war conflict in Ukraine opened in Nitra, wrote Slovak Interior Ministry on its website. Applicants for temporary shelter will find it at Akademická street 4. After the opening of the large-capacity centres in Humenné and Michalovce, eastern Slovakia, this is the third such centre where foreigners are provided with accommodation without long delays, within about 15 minutes. The large-capacity centre for foreigners in Nitra will be open around the clock (24/7) and will deal exclusively with foreigners applying for temporary shelter.

At the same time, the departments of the Foreigners Police of the Police Corps in Nitra and in Nové Zámky will no longer handle foreigners applying for temporary shelter, but will open their workplaces for other categories of foreigners.

“We continue to assess the current situation and take measures to make the processing processes as efficient and expeditious as possible and to help foreigners fleeing a war-torn country as soon as possible. Foreigners' police departments all over the country are operating non-stop without a break, even on weekends. We are also preparing to open another large-capacity centre in Bratislava, and we are working intensively to strengthen the foreign police offices in Banská Bystrica and Trnava”, the Interior Ministry wrote on its website.
