Lex Ukraine in Parliament

Parliament is discussing the bill responding to the situation in Ukraine - the so-called Lex Ukraine - in a fast-tracked procedure. This was decided by the House at its session on Thursday. The Government-sponsored motion sets the payments of contributions for housing the refugees at €500-1,250 per month based on the number of rooms provided and due to be paid via towns and villages. Ukrainian nationals applying for asylum could acquire employment straight away while being exempted from some local taxes. Cars registered in Ukraine are to be exempted from the need to buy e-vignettes for the use of Slovak motorways. Similarly, vehicles transporting humanitarian aid and refugees will not have to pay road tolls. All Ukrainian refugees will be granted free-of-charge health care services for the first 30 days following their arrival in Slovakia.
