Second consignment of nuclear fuel arrives in Slovakia from Russia

Another consignment of nuclear fuel cells arrived in Slovakia from Russia in the early hours of Wednesday, Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS) announced on a social network on the same day.

"I was keeping things related to nuclear fuel for Jaslovske Bohunice and Mochovce [nuclear power plants], which generate 55 percent of all electricity in Slovakia, rather quiet in recent weeks because I didn't want to endanger the two consignments of fuel cells that had been planned a long time in advance. One arrived two weeks ago, the other today," posted Sulik.

"The situation now is that all four reactors will be running this year, and we'll start transporting the fuel, already in stock, for the fifth block [Mochovce 3] in the following weeks. I won't reveal how much of what's needed for next year is actually covered, but I can say that "we're good"," reads Sulik's post. In addition to that he also stated that Slovakia made a deal on having Slovnaft adopt a commitment in writing that if oil supplies via Ukraine are interrupted, Slovnaft will put Slovakia first with oil supplies via the Adria pipeline.
