Opposition parliamentary deputy and former Economy Minister Juraj Miškov is worried that the third and fourth units of the Nuclear Power Plant in Mochovce (EMO) will not be completed.
“This is a catastrophe. The third unit should have been put into operation in 2012, it was then gradually postponed and today the date is unclear. I am unhappy about it. I am seriously concerned whether the third and fourth units of the nuclear power plant in Mochovce will be actually put into operation,” said Miškov after the meeting of MPs from the Parliamentary Economic Committee with senior representatives of Slovenske Elektrarne. Economy Minister Tomas Malatinský also expressed certain doubts about the scheduled completion of the two nuclear units in Mochovce. He, however, still believes in Slovenske Elektrarne headed by the Italian shareholder Enel. “Its steps cast doubts on the whole situation, but I still believe that the foreign shareholder has the potential to complete the nuclear units,” Malatinský said.
